World Poker Tour Host Mike Sexton Featured on PocketFives Podcast

Millions of Americans tune into the World Poker Tour every single week. It's a staple of the poker world. In fact, many of today's young superstars learned the game, in part, by turning on The Travel Channel every week and listening to Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten call the action ringside from some of the largest buy-in tournaments on the face of the Earth. This week, poker ambassador Mike Sexton, the voice of the World Poker Tour, joins the PocketFives.com Podcast.

San Jose, Costa Rica (PRWEB) July 25, 2008 -- The World Poker Tour has made headlines over the last week. The tournament series found a new home on Fox Sports Net for its seventh season and, just hours later, crowned the champion of its fourth Bellagio Cup, PocketFiver Mike "SirWatts" Watson. At the center of the action on the WPT circuit is Mike Sexton, lead commentator alongside Hollywood heartthrob Vince Van Patten. They have been the voice of the World Poker Tour since it debuted in 2002. Sexton joins the PocketFives Podcast this week.

Sexton comments on his thoughts when he learned that GSN, which currently airs the sixth season of the World Poker Tour, elected not to pick up the exclusive rights to Season VII: "I was happy about it because I didn't think that GSN was the right partner. I was continually bombarded with people asking me how to get GSN. They didn't have the money to market the show properly. I think that Fox Sports Net is the perfect fit and that the WPT is going to shine."

Meanwhile, two PocketFives.com members had six-figure cashes in major online poker tournaments this past week, as #4 ranked Alex "AJKHoosier1" Kamberis earned $135,000 for second place in the Full Tilt $1 Million Guaranteed flagship tournament. He was one card away from a dominant chip lead heads-up, but was ousted by a brutal river card. France's "Shantaram" won $141,700 for second place in the PokerStars Sunday Million and quickly became one of the top-ranked online tournament players in that country. "Eisenhower1" of Sweden took down the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up for over $97K and moved up to #31 in the online poker rankings. Jason "JCarver" Somerville won the PokerStars Sunday Second Chance for nearly $58K and "dippydough" won the Bodog $100K Guaranteed for the second time in four months.

Daniel "djk123" Kelly reclaimed the #1 worldwide online ranking this week; Chris "moorman1" Moorman climbed one spot to #2. Johan "busto_soon" Van Til of the Netherlands moved up two spots to #15, while James "P0KERPR033" Campbell, an UltimateBet Star Player, re-entered the top 20. "Tomgus456" of Sweden won the Full Tilt $65K Guaranteed earlier in the week and is now ranked #26. Felipe "improved" Montenegro of Costa Rica and "itssuited" had dual wins in the PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker $100 rebuy tournaments earlier in the week, and both entered the top 50 because of those scores. Scott "stsitron" Sitron also won the Full Tilt Poker $65K Guaranteed; boosting him 21 spots to #59 worldwide. PocketFiver "gregior" of the United Kingdom is up 34 slots to #66 following his $85,800 first place score in the PokerStars $1K Super Tuesday.
