(PRWEB) September 25, 2008 -- 888.com today confirmed that poker ambassador and former first class cricketer Shane Warne will be playing at the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) event in London.

The World Series of Poker Europe takes place from the 19th September - 2nd October, at The Empire Casino at Leicester Square, London, and Warne is due to begin his first day of the £10,000 Main Event at 1pm on Saturday 27th September.

Off the back of his amazing debut at the World Series of Poker main event in Las Vegas in July, where he finished in the top 15% of a field of over 7000 of the world's top players, Warne will be hoping to take that form forward into the main European event on the professional circuit.

Commenting on his latest poker challenge, Warne said, "I'm really looking forward to going to the WSOP in London and just hope I can play as well as I did in Vegas. I'm really enjoying my poker and the intensity of Vegas should hopefully stand me in great stead for London and the televised 888 Poker Open in November."
