Craps Dice Technique

Most Craps shooters just pick up the dice, roll and see what comes. This is fine for players just wanting a bit of fun, but by dice setting you could tip the odds in your favour.
If your grip, release and throw are right on axis and hitting the right spot on the dice table every time, you may have more success at hitting your numbers

All 7's Set

Best used for: Come out roll

Overview

This is a great set for a beginner. Coupled with the Hard Way set, this set will round out the beginner's set. The all sevens set is accomplished by setting the dice in any of the hard way sets and rotating either the right or left die 2 quarter turns.

• 5 - 2 on top and 4 - 3 in front
• 3 - 4 on top and 5 - 2 in front
• 2 - 5 on top and 3 - 4 in front
• 4 - 3 on top and 2 - 5 in front

Hardway Set

Best used for: All other tosses after the come out and place bets

Overview

There are 4 ways to make a 7 with this set but, if the dice go off axis, it is more forgiving. Can be set with:

• Hard 6 on top and hard 10 or hard 4 in front
• Hard 10 on top and hard 8 or hard 6 in front
• Hard 8 on top and hard 4 or hard 10 in front
• Hard 4 on top and hard 6 or hard 8 in front

The 3 Set

Best used for: Sixes, eights and inside numbers

Overview

Two faces have eight and the other two faces show six. You can also hit the 5 and the 9 (2 ways each). You can set it up as:

• 3 V on top and 6-2 or 2-6 in front
• 3 V on top and 5-1 or 1-5 in front

The 2 Set

Best used for: Tens, fours and outside numbers

Overview

This set can be used when your point is ten or four. It is good for outside numbers (4, 10, 5, & 9). If you can keep the dice on axis (both rotating together), you have a great chance for hitting an outside number.

• 2 V on top and 3-1 or 1-3 in front
• 2 V on top and 6-4 or 4-6 in front
• 2 V on top and 4-1 or 1-4 in front
• 2 V on top and 6-3 or 3-6 in front

6/5 - 5/4 Set

Best used for: set for place bets

Overview

This is another great set for place bets if the dice are staying on axis. Only two ways to make a seven and 12 ways to hit your place bets. Use only if your dice are staying on axis.

Straight Sixes Set

Best used for: Horn, Whirl and 7's bet

Overview

This set should be used for come out rolls only, as there are 4 possible sevens, some craps and YO's. Set:

• 6 - 6 on top and 2 - 2 in front

Crossed Sixes Set

Best used for: Come Out Rolls

Overview

Good for outside numbers (4, 10, 5 & 9), but you will also have a few crap numbers (2, 3 & 12) and YO's (11).

6/5 - 4/4 Set

Best used for: Inside Numbers

Overview

This is a great set to use for inside numbers. With this set there are 12 place numbers, six which are either a 6 or an 8. There only two ways to make a 7 if the dice remain on axis.

6/4 - 5/6 Set

Best used for: Inside Numbers

Overview

This set is good for inside numbers but not for hard way numbers. It is also good for whirls and horns. Use this dice set only if dice are staying on axis consistently.
